Hounslow 
 
Holy Trinity Priory founded in 1211 was the focal point for the settlement that became Hounslow. Hounslow prospered even after the Priory dissolved in 1539,and continued to be a thriving staging post, located as it was on the Bath Road. Nearby Hounslow Heath, known as a haunt for highwaymen and thieves, played a military role for both Cromwell and James I.  
The building of the Great Western Railway line significantly reducing traffic on the Bath Road, with a major impact on trade in Hounslow. The subsequent building of the Hounslow Loop Line restored the towns fortunes. Road building in the early 20th Century saw further development in Hounslow with more factories and housing estates being built. The late 20th Century saw an increase in office based commerce as the factories declined. Modern Hounslow has a large shopping centre off the High street and features plenty of retail outlets and restaurants for its 41,000 plus population
